Dr Nicola Barnes
Summary
I am a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice, with broad experience of multidisciplinary working and education across primary and secondary care.
I have special interests in interprofessional learning, to support efficient, effective and sustainable health care, looking after our patients and population health now & in the future.
Biography
I joined the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ in 2016 after completing my PhD at the University of Southampton; having previously gained experience across primary and secondary care, including in community pharmacy, in GP practices, as a member of a multidisciplinary community care team & within the private hospital sector.
Research interests
My PhD looked at whether community healthcare services could be targeted in a more effective and timely manner to patients in need by using physical measures of strength and routine healthcare data. I continue to have a research interest in supporting patients to get the most from healthcare services and I support other healthcare professionals to do the same.
Teaching responsibilities
I teach across all years of the Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) programme, focussing on pharmacy practice, whilst also contributing to the post-graduate prescribing programmes for pharmacists and nurses, and post-graduate research degrees.
I lead on the development of practice placements & interprofessional learning for our pharmacy students and co-ordinate the fourth year MPharm module.
