Researching how to distinguish between truthful and false alibi

Study Description

The research objective is to uncover truthful from deceptive suspects who discuss their alibi. The ultimate outcome of the study will help police officers in resolving crimes and will thus enhance safety and reduce harm in society.

What will participants be doing?

Participants will engage in several activities at and/or near the department and will then be interviewed about these activities. Half of the participants will be asked to tell the truth about the activities and half will be asked to lie during the interview. Afterwards, participants will complete a questionnaire about their experiences, impressions, and demographics.

Duration

60 to 70 minutes.
