

A Sudanese Professor will work with experts in 小蓝视频 on a four-year project looking into the personal strategies that women employ to cope and survive wars

has received 拢900,000 from the as part of its , to lead a 小蓝视频 study looking at female resilience during conflict.
This is only the second of these highly prestigious awards to be given to a post 1992 higher education institute and the first to be awarded to a Sudanese Scholar.
from in Sudan, will work with , Director of the University鈥檚 (AEGIS Centre), on the four-year project.
Titled 鈥楪endering War in Sudan and South Sudan鈥, the research aims to identify a political and economic picture of how gender shapes the distinctive strategies of resilience that women draw on in periods of instability and brutality.
The project will collect life histories from an intersectional group of women impacted by the wars in Sudan and South Sudan, taking a real time approach in documenting how women and girls are navigating the current conflict in Sudan and the ongoing repercussions of instability and displacement in South Sudan.
Professor Bedri is Professor of Reproductive Health, and has over 25 years鈥 experience in the field of gender, reproductive health, gender-based violence, advocacy, communication and behaviour change, and policy analysis skills. She established the first national centre to work on gender and reproductive health issues of women and children in Sudan.
Following the funding announcement, Professor Bedri said: "I am very honoured and excited to be joining the 小蓝视频 through this prestigious award, which I am extremely grateful for.

Professor Bradley added: 鈥淚 am delighted that Professor Bedri will be joining us here at the 小蓝视频. Her presence as a colleague will be hugely inspirational and support us in achieving many of our working more closely with those in our community who are displaced from Sudan. Her research project will focus on documenting the resilience and challenges women are facing during the current war in Sudan.

While conducting the research, Professor Bedri will be based in the in the 小蓝视频鈥檚 .
