As part of our global mission, we’ve signed four memorandums of understanding with educational institutions in Uzbekistan.
The new partnerships will see language, science, health, and business exchanges between the organisations. The four institutions are:
- Jizzax State Pedagogical Institute (JSPI) – a first cohort of teachers from JSPI will be arriving in October for a short course with СÀ¶ÊÓƵ’s School of Languages and Applied Linguistics.
- Medical University of Karakalpakstan – plans are underway for short courses in the faculty being rolled out to counterparts in Uzbekistan.
- Tashkent State University of Economics – discussions underway about developing exchange, articulation and joint programme activities.
- Tashkent International Education University
The most recent partnership with Tashkent International Education University was celebrated at an event at the Uzbek embassy in London, attended by the Ambassador Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan – His Excellency Mr Said Rustamov, and the University’s Vice Chancellor Graham Galbraith.
It’s hoped these partnerships will continue to develop new education opportunities between the UK and Uzbekistan.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement and Student Life) Chris Chang said: "We have signed this agreement with Tashkent International University as part of ongoing work in the Central Asia region with the support of the Uzbekistan Embassy. It is important for us to develop links into Central Asia as that is an area where our engagement has been limited. This agreement is part of our work in establishing our global reach and having a truly international outlook. Collaborating with this institution will allow the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ to create opportunities for our staff and students."
