If you can't find the information you need in our publication schemes, you can make a freedom of information (FOI) request.

We can usually send you the information you ask for within 20 working days of receiving your request. If we can't provide the information in this time we'll acknowledge your request, let you know if we have the information you want, and tell you when we'll send it to you.

If we can't give you some or all of the information you ask for, we'll tell you why. It will usually be because the information:

  • relates to another person
  • has health and safety implications
  • is published elsewhere
  • is part of an ongoing investigation
  • might prejudice any law enforcement action if we disclose it
  • is in our commercial interest not to release

Fees

We'll always tell you about any costs before we send you the information you've asked for so you won't get a surprise bill.

Most requests won't cost you anything but we can charge a fee if the cost of finding the information is more than £450. We can also charge for postage and photocopying. .

How to make a freedom of information request

Your request for information about us needs to be in writing by email or letter. Please include:

  • your name
  • your email address (if you have one)
  • your postal address
  • details of the information you want
  • confirmation of whether you want a reply by email or by post
