Steve joined the University in August 2014, having previously worked in the Further Education sector. He has led multiple national and international projects focused on the continued development of education professionals.
In 2020 his work across Further and Higher Education sectors led to him being awarded an Advance HE National Teaching Fellowship, and he went on to become Chair in Professional Development and Learning in 2023.
His research focuses on educational leadership development, specifically how educational leadership development can enable effectiveness in facilitating high-quality education environments. This work led him to author the first set of Professional Standards for Further Education Leaders in England, published by the Education and Training Foundation.
